Yes, that is exactly how you can turn the digits off.
You could also remove or rename /usr/share/3ddesktop/digits.bmp
so it can't find the digits however creating a "view" in the .conf
with show_digit 0 is the prefered way.
(BTW if you want to change the "font" of the digits you can
modify the digits.bmp file)
Also, you can copy /usr/share/3ddesktop/3ddesktop.conf to
~/.3ddesktop/ and edit that one if you'd like as an alternative.
