In the conf file, there appears to be that very option.

/usr/share/3ddesktop/3ddesktop.conf
show_digit      0

You might have to use --view= on your keybinding, but that isn't usually
too difficult. Or maybe swap 3ddesk with a script that runs 3ddesk-orig
--view=xxxx.. or something like that.
