Hello,
This is most likely a problem with the auto acquire feature. By default
auto acquire is on so 3ddesktop will try to update the screen pictures
every couple of seconds (30 I think by default). The higher your
resolution and display depth is the more resources the updates require.
I find 3desktop to work great if I just turn the auto acquire off.
Michael.

Recently, I upgraded my distribution from Ubuntu Warty which uses XFree86 to
Ubuntu Hoary, which uses Xorg. I have just recently noticed that while using
3ddesk, my Xorg process consumes up to 30% of the CPU cycles every couple of
seconds. Another fellow in a similar situation that I talked with in the
Ubuntu forums experiences even worse hits-- 100% of his CPU is consumed every
few seconds, making it so he cannot use the app effectively at all. (For me,
I notice a slight "snag" if I am dragging a window around).
We are both using ATI cards with the hardware acceleration enabled, though
they are different cards. I am not sure if this is a problem with 3ddesk, or
Xorg, or the ATI drivers, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had any ideas.
Thanks,
Carl Waldbieser
