Interactive Multi-Lingual Demo

Today's site, from AT&T Labs, offers a fun, yet practical
demonstration of their text to speech application. In addition to
being entertained by this demo, you will undoubtedly be able to
think of a number of uses for the WAV files they produce.

"How can I download audio clips? ... The link is good for about 5
minutes, after which the WAV file is deleted to save disk space.
... Can I use the downloaded audio clips? ... The site is
intended for demonstration purposes only. You can use audio clips
for your own amusement ... This is a guideline, not a legal
document."

In the text box, visitors simply type the text they wish to have
converted to speech and then choose from a number of voices to
speak the words; these range from choices in English, with both
male and female voices and American and British accents; to
German, French and Latin American Spanish. Since the resulting
WAV files may be downloaded and saved for personal use, the site
has a practical aspect as well. Readers using an e-mail program
which allows individual WAV files to be used for specific
filters, for example, can tailor notifications to identify
incoming e-mails from particular sources -- "Woo hoo! An e-mail
from Mortimer has arrived."
