MegaPenny Project

"Visualizing huge numbers can be very difficult. People regularly
talk about millions of miles, billions of bytes, or trillions of
dollars, yet it's still hard to grasp just how much a "billion"
really is. The MegaPenny
Project aims to help by taking one small everyday item, the U.S.
penny, and building on that to answer the question: "What would a
billion (or a trillion) pennies look like?" - from the website

By using the ordinary U.S. penny, the site provides an
illustration in pennies for each number and includes the value,
width, height, thickness, weight and area, along with a common
item for comparison, for example, the ubiquitous yellow school
bus. Don't miss the "Table of Very Big Numbers" of one to a
novemtrigintillion (1 plus 126 zeros). For gentle members who are
still clamoring for more, there's the bonus section "MegaMoo" --
one million cows and additional links to relevant material.
