Today's site, a new feature from the labs at Google, offers
homepage customization structured around the usual Google search
site. Readers, who like to keep an eye on the Google juggernaut,
may find this latest development of interest.

"To start using Personalized Google for the first time, create
your Google Account ... . With your email address and chosen
password, you can access Personalized Google and many other
Google services. ... Do you already use Gmail, Groups, My Search
History, Alerts, or Froogle Shopping List? If so, you already
have a Google Account." - from the website

Personalized Google, encourages users to set up a Google Account
in order to access the features available for a Google homepage.
Among the choices are stock market information; weather tagged to
zip or postal codes; movies; driving directions; news from
Slashdot, Wired
News, the New York Times, and BBC News; a "Quote of the Day"; and
"Word of the Day". Those who have a Gmail account may also
include direct access to their inbox. A cookie must be
permanently stored to maintain the customized homepage.
