Semiconductor Diodes - mark cathode
Light Emitting Diodes - +
Is the way we do it here. I am not sure of the reasoning.

Let's settle a question for me. In almost every place I've worked, we have
marked the cathode end of a diode to indicate its polarity. Usually with a
dot.
What is the majority thinking on this. Do we mark the anode or cathode end?
