[pcdlist] Re: Thru hole components

We do it here on some of our boards. The only special handling I have heard
of is that the holes have to have a tighter tolerance (don't remember what
we use, offhand) and that a stepped stencil is used to deposit more paste
on the thru-hole pads. More common here is to use soldering fixtures to
protect SMD parts while the thru-holes are wave soldered.

I've heard of this being done before but how well does it work? Is there
enough solder flow available to form a proper fillet? As unconventional as
it may sound, it could save assembly $. Any info on it's reliability or an
IPC spec?
