Thanks all. I've tried the two latest versions of the nvidia binary
driver for the last couple of months on a GeForce FX5200EP 128MB in
a debian 2.4.20 P-III 500MHz 440BX system (XFree86 4.2.1). Anywhere
from a few minutes to a few hours, XFree86/mouse/keyboard would freeze
and i have to reboot. I tried all config options in the README.

I then installed XFree86 4.3 so i could use the nv driver. However,
after much configuring and google dredging, i found that dual-head
operation with the nv driver is *definitely* not an option (can only
use one head or the other, but not both). So beware of nvidia.

I just got an ati radeon 7000 and generated a config with:
XFree86 -configure, then added the dual-head options. It works
so well with no problems at all. I'd definitely recommend ati
over nvidia because of the much better XFree86 driver. Don't
know about game performance; i just do programming and CAD.
The nvidia linux forum shows numerous problems with the
binary driver. Anyone interested in a barely used nvidia card?
