http://www.freelists.org/post/optimal/Topcon-50EX-Filter-Size
http://www.freelists.org/post/optimal/Topcon-50EX-Filter-SizeWhat is the exact size of the filters that fit into the filter wheel of the
Topcon 50EX IX? I measure them to be around 32 mm in diameter but this does
not seem to be a standard size sold in optical catalogs (25 mm diameter X 3.5
mm width is the standard size).
I am in need of an exact size (diameter x width) of the filter itself, which
will drop into the Topcon supplied filter holder.
I am not referring to the fluorescein filter.

http://www.freelists.org/post/optimal/optimal-Digest-V6-62Hi,
The question came up what is near infrared and true infrared. The visual range
is usually given in every text book as 400 to 700 nm.
I was just researching the topic a few days ago. Nothing is ever exact in
nature. So, when scientist say that the range is from 400 to 700 it is not
exact. The human eye has a pretty steep drop on the 400 nm side of things but a
more gradual drop off in the infrared. The ICG laser of the Spectralis is at
795 nm, but we can see the dim red square when we look into the instrument and
the FA laser is off. But we can’t see the IR viewing laser at 820 nm. Why is
that? Because the power of the ICG IR laser is much higher and the wavelength

I always like wikipedia for stuff like this. It usually answers the

So as Darrin stated IR refers to the entire spectrum of infrared

into NIR.

Near IR is a subdivision within the IR spectrum. In ophthalmic imaging
literature, both terms are often used interchangeably. To my knowledge all
currently available commercial ophthalmic imaging devices that use IR fall into
the near infrared range.
So the long-winded answer to your question below is both: the Spectralis IR
laser is true IR (in the NIR range).
Hope this helps,

Spectralis IR reflectance is measured at 820nm, and IR wavelength is from
700nm - 1mm, so technically it is infrared. Humans only see from
400-700nm.
