PRS of Texas Technology is rapidly changing the way ROI specialists process requests for protected health information. Microfiche, microfilm, diskettes, and hard copies are the most common media. However, technology is advancing rapidly to include online storage, and smart cards are on the near horizon. PRS of Texas staff serve numerous health care professionals, such as private doctor's offices, rehabilitation clinics, and large hospitals. We have plans to continue growing, so our forum will be used to discuss issues arising from the different technologies we encounter, as well as state and new federal laws that regulate access to records stored in these media. |
