The BC Coalition of Women's Centres, a virtual community, recently developed a Steering Committee in order to streamline the process of decision-making and focus on specific work the Coalition needs to do. The Steering Committee e-mail discussion list will exist to: 1) develop strategies for increasing access to information and communications technology, especially in isolated northern and rural women's centres, in order to effectively integrate ICT into the work of women's centres; 2) explore methods by which technology can be used to increase the visibility of women's centres, raise funds for the Coalition and for individual women's centres, and improve the effectiveness of education/awareness campaigns; and 3) develop and implement processes and tools which specifically utilize technology to coordinate the sharing of resources over geographical distance (i.e.: development of an online database, exploration of the feasability of net meetings, et cetera).

Friends of the Austin Planetarium is a nonprofit group working to build a Planetarium and Space Science Center in Austin, Texas. Our current outreach efforts include public lectures and demonstrations of contemporary digital planetarium systems. Our core mission is to educate schoolchildren as well as the general community of central Texas about astronomy, physics, and space exploration. This is technology related because the Governments plans include a multi-billion pound IT project. Many of our discussions will focus around aspects of this project.

The BC Coalition of Women's Centres e-mail discussion list is a virtual community for women's centres in British Columbia. The list was created for women's centres to 1) come together to discuss, strategize on, and develop tools that assist individual women and women's organizations to use information and communications technology to take action on issues of violence against women, women's poverty and other human rights abuses; 2) promote the sharing of information amongst ourselves and assist us in finding new and more effective ways of using ICT; 3) help integrate ICT into the work of women's centres; and 4) increase our utilization of ICT to disseminate information regarding issues affecting women in British Columbia.

We have members only webring and message board. We are in no way connected to the British television show called Bad Girls.
