Yes, thanks again, Morry!! Great seeing you "old" Webproducers, and meeting a
few new ones. I really enjoyed last night. It's a good thing you've done,
Morry.

Among the topics of conversation last night were the tragedy of 9/11 and the
aftermath in each of our lives. Some more significant than others, but beyond
the difficulties that have come due to personal and civic loss, the economy
sucks! I think that falls under adding insult to injury.

Also, I discussed QA issues with Dennis who's the Technical Director from a
small web shop in town and Mary Ann (sp?). We discussed the "how it should be
done" versus "how it is done" and the forces that divide the two, such as
budget, time, client ignorance -- which is often aggravated by poor client
relations. We all agreed that QA should be considered and planned for early in
the project. It's often an afterthought, and as such not budgeted for, or even
attempted after launch....too little too late, usually.

We talked about setting up a test environment using VMWare
<URL:http://www.vmware.com> to allow you to have more than one browser version
on the same machine.

We also talked about some of the bug and issue tracking tools out there that
help you keep track of what needs to be done on your projects, and to whom they
are assigned. There are some good ones out there such as Bugzilla, GNATS, and
Jitterbug among others. I've got some info on my web page at
http://nylug.org/~eberg; look for the "Bug Tracking" link at the bottom of the
left nav.

James Pinto and I spoke about the business climate, and how everybody here in
NYC seems to be seriously holding back on making any commitments. At the same
time, eating, dressing, all that normal stuff still goes on, so it seems to
follow that we'll see some pickup in web business as things progress. We're
all hoping.

The place was nice, though the music a little loud for those more soft-spoken
among us. All in all, it was a terrific networking event, though Lori, our
waitress would probably have liked for us to hoist quite a few more
drinks....maybe next time.

Thanks again, Morry! BTW, what do you think about a December get together?

-Eric.
