Hi Folks -- =20
I am working on encoding several videos for the BA website.
Our server isn=B9t set up for streaming video, so I compressed the files to b=
e
downloadable. I prepared these files for QuickTime (QT) using a method tha=
t
(a) creates alternate versions (within one file) for various Internet
connections; (b) creates a still image with a play button icon that a user
can click to view the video; and (c) creates a fallback image which notifie=
s
a user when they don=B9t have the proper video player to view the file, QT.
Here=B9s where I=B9m confused. I thought any server (i.e. Windows, UNIX) could
handle any type of downloadable file. Therefore, I uploaded the QT files an=
d
set up the HTML. However the page I created shows up with a broken QT icon.
I tested this from other computers but saw the same result.
Here=B9s the video link: http://www.behavioralassociates.com/miner_smal.html.
I am also attaching the error message I received.
I then compressed a video using Windows Media, uploaded that to the server
and I was able to view the video.
I=B9m confused because I thought that QuickTime was cross platform and, as a
download, would work on any server. I=B9m not even able to view the QT files
separately, let alone as I set them up in a group
I=B9m also confused because I have the latest version of QT on my machine.
Here=B9s my question: Is it possible that windows servers just don=B9t support
QT?=20
I spent a great deal of time compressing these videos in QT and I=B9d hate to
duplicate my work. Therefore, I thought I=B9d ask you first.
Many Thanks.=20
PS I used Cleaner for MAC to compress and encode these files.
