Web Producer
Search for Common Ground's (SFCG) mission is to transform how the
world deals with conflict: away from adversarial approaches, toward
cooperative solutions. Together with our sister organisation, the European
Centre for Common Ground (ECCG), based in Brussels, Belgium, we design and
implement multifaceted programmes that aim to resolve conflict and prevent
violence. We seek to help conflicting parties to understand their
differences and act on their commonalties.
Summary of Post:
The Web Producer will be responsible for designing and creating
original web sites and applications, as well as supporting and managing
existing web sites for the organization. S/he will work with program staff
to update and maintain sites and serve as an in-house expert to advise and
train staff on the Internet and other technologies. Reporting to the
Director of Communications and working in the Outreach Division, the Web
Producer will be part of a team that integrates the content and message of
the SFCG website into the communications strategy of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain the SFCG/ECCG web sites, including evaluating
site architecture and navigation, art and design, programming and content;
* Edit and manage content produced by the programs;
* Administer and manage the Windows 2000 hosting server;
* Develop new sites and applications as required, including
pre-production, planning and collaborating with programs on site
specifications;
* Manage web site traffic, including log analysis and search engine
optimization;
* Identify and manage Internet technologies for the organization, such
as communities, intranet/extranet, audio and video production;
* Supervise the content management system and a team of content
editors;
* Maintain and update web site policies, procedures and training
applications/materials for the content team;
* Advise, train and support staff in the use of Internet technologies;
* Being engaged in the continuing development of the organization, its
mission and its staff, through the sharing of experience and knowledge,
particularly contributing to its Institutional Learning initiative
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be
required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above
key duties.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Undergraduate degree in a related subject, or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 2 years experience building and managing organizational
web sites
* Experience and knowledge of HTML, Javascript, Macromedia Cold
Fusion, MS SQL Server 2000, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia
Flash and MS Office
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
* Attention to detail and creative problem solving
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as a part of a team and with different types of
personalities
Desirable:
* Experience with NGO operations, particularly in the international
arena
* Knowledge of MP3, Quicktime, Real Media and Windows Media software
* Experience with issue or cause marketing
* Interest in conflict resolution
