In addition to the responses already (which I agree with =
wholeheartedly), I
would give clients the editorial tools to do the content themselves. =
There
are tools like Macromedia Contribute ($99 a seat) which work well =
(unless
the company uses proxy server(s) to get to the internet in which case =
it's a
tossup).
The downside to letting the client handle loading the content and images =
is
GIGO (garbage in, garbage out). It's sort of a waste of time to develop =
a
workable design and info architecture only to have it sabotaged by a
client's (poor) taste in copy and imagery. But that could be an =
opportunity,
too: the client puts up the first draft and you contract to polish it.

Subject: [webproducers] client question
How do you manage a client issue where the client was responsible for
content.
The content was not of great quality (copy and photos), it was only
moderately organized, and then the client started making requests for
specific functionality related to content that deviated from what was =
scoped
including formatting of content without any general or specific =
instructions
or guidelines (e.g. bold, bullet list, headline).
How do you manage this sort of thing? How much do you expect of your
clients when they supply the content/copy? How much coaching do you =
provide?
I usually tell my clients we will make comments and suggestions on =
their
content but usually wind up doing a bit more in the name of service.
