---Position Available---
Project Director: Electronic Student Portfolio Program
LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning, CUNY

The LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning is accepting applications to
fill a long-term, grant-funded leadership position at NYC's LaGuardia
Community College, beginning August 2003.

LaGuardia Community College, a campus of the City University of New York
(CUNY), has a tradition of successful educational innovation. The College
serves a diverse population of 12,000 undergraduates and 28,000 adult
education students-more than 70% of our students are of Latino, Asian, or
African American background. The LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning
supports faculty with a range of professional development programs designed
to enrich student learning.

Project Director: Electronic Student Portfolio Project, Full-Time: The
Center has received major funding from the US Dept. of Education and is now
in the pilot year of a five-year program to advance the use of Electronic
Student Portfolios at the college. An ePortfolio is a selective collection
of student work-papers, presentations, projects and performances, plus
student reflections on their work-made available on the Web. Designed to
deepen student learning and improve program assessment, ePortfolios allow
students share their learning with families and communities as well as
future employers and transfer institutions. The Portfolio initiative is
part of a broad restructuring of the College's assessment practices.

The Project Director will manage program activities for the Center, working
with faculty and staff to advance the project. Reporting to the Center
Director, the Project Director will assume oversight of the development and
testing process, liaison with IT, and help lead faculty development
processes supporting College-wide integration. The Program Director will
also coordinate budget and contract management, support fundraising, and
develop reports to funders and College leaders.

We are looking for candidates with energy, experience, and skill whose
qualifications include:

. Earned Master's Degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant career experience
(Doctorate a plus);
. A record of success as an educator, with experience and insight into
learner-centered pedagogies;
. Knowledge and experience with the use of new educational technology;
. Experience working with and leading faculty development programs;
. Familiarity with classroom and curricular assessment approaches,
particularly portfolios & performance-based assessment strategies;
. Strong written & oral communication skills, and ability to work well with
diverse groups; and
. Experience in program management, supervising staff and supporting
institutional change.

The Center is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes qualified
applicants from diverse backgrounds. Starting salary: $55-62,000, based
upon experience and qualifications. Applications accepted till the position
is filled. Anticipated start date is August 2003. Send resume and cover
letter highlighting qualifications to:
