Thanks everyone for their input, it gives me a lot of perspectives in how to
handle this.

One thing I neglected to mention is that I'm NOT getting paid for this! (Oh
boy, what have I gotten myself into??) I volunteered my services - thus my
reason for asking about the intellectual property ownership. My fear is that
my project plan will land on the desk of someone on the board of directors
or steering committee and they'll take it away and use it for their own
enterprise (for profit). Is that fear unfounded perhaps?

I'm still a rooky with PM practices, so bear with me please!
