[webproducers] Re: Extranet Packages (and Functionality) ?

This is something common I think. There are people who build things and
have a very clear idea of their goals and project mission for
development and there are those who are motivated by competition it
seems. You see a lot of this in building public sites more than intranet
sites usually.
One thing I have found very useful is to help them articulate the
purpose of the intranet. Is it to support a marketing objective, an HR
objective, or an overall business objective? One thing is often to find
out what things they are doing offline now in their internal practices
and then start from there finding ways to automate that process. For
example put time keeping online so people anywhere even tele-commuters
(if applicable) could record time.
