The Web Publishing Manager is a key leadership role in the WebMD
Professional Web Publishing Operations group. Responsibilities include
development and maintenance of published content on WebMD's professional
portal, Medscape from WebMD. This position requires the ability to manage
a team whose responsibility is to produce and publish high-quality, accurate
content in a high-volume environment as well as to provide strategic
direction to our Professional Web publishing operations. The position works
closely with the Director of the Publishing Operations group and with the
Operations Manager to define and manage the team's adherence to publishing
procedures and production standards, as well as to monitor workflows and
publishing volumes. The position also coordinates cross-functional teams
(editorial, development, operations) to develop and implement new site
functionality. The candidate should have a working knowledge of HTML, XML,
JavaScript, Web publishing, multimedia processing, database structure, and
the development of technical requirements documents. Applicants must have
proven experience directing high-volume Web publishing and programs, as well
as experience working with external clients. Health-related experience a
plus.
Job Requirements
*Minimum 10 years' professional experience, with majority in Web production
and publishing
*Minimum 3 years' management experience
*B.A. or equivalent
*Proven experience managing online content, design and technical projects.
*Strong knowledge of requirements for integrating multimedia into Web
services/products.
*Deep knowledge of Web development processes and parameters.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation of
ideas, functional specifications and site architecture documents.
*Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external groups.
*Knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, content management systems,
multimedia integration and other Web technologies.
*Must be exceptionally flexible, well-organized and detail-oriented.
*Must be able to work in fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
*Strong project management and analytical skills; ability to drive a project
to completion.
*Proven staff management and talent development skills
