I'm in Portland, OR. I think I've been on this list since about 2000,
when I was a new producer. Since them I ran my own agency and now I'm a
consultant on my own. (Still using my Tweak email, though that will go
away shortly.)
There's a huge development community here, of course, and lots of
opportunities to get together in person.=20
I love the idea of Ning, though I always forget to check my Ning groups.
I think that's one of the best ways to get to know people and also have
discussions.=20
What about Twitter? I'm on that (uh, more than I should be) and have
found it to be a great way to keep up with people. You can post short
notes as well as URLs to blog posts, etc. We could share information
quickly that way.
My username on Twitter is thiskat. If you follow me let me know you're
from this list and I'll make sure to follow you back.

Could do something in West TN area (as we've discussed before...)
Here's an idea - do we have traditional message boards available? We
could
make boards available by state then by major city and start to develop
ideas/connections there first before trying some other tool...??

Subject: [webproducers] local web producers meetups?
Hey all-
In the past I've sponsored local events in NY and even when I was =20
visiting London last spring.
I've been running WPO for nearly eight years now and we often hear of =20
interest in local events or gatherings. In the past I've encouraged =20
folks to kick start local chapters as I see WPO as a kind of open-=20
source professional community but it never seems to happen.
I'm curious what you think would be a good way to get this moving so =20
local interactive producers have a way to get together without having =20
to do tons of planning. Should we use meetup.com or some other tool to =20
make it easy to plan or is someone interested in helping to create =20
something that would reside on the WPO site?
As the industry continues to mature it would be great to figure out =20
ways to involve more of the community but also keep it more free-form =20
and a professional community than an old style "association".
Any ideas?
