[webproducers] Re: Webtrends inaccurate?

Any discrepency between the log files and the webtrends reports has nothing to
do with the webtrends reporting tool. All it is doing to running some
aggregating queries against your weblogs. If your webservers and/or
application architecture aren't setup to properly write all the data that
webtrends needs to the weblogs, then the reporting won't come up accurately
either. In other words, the output from webtrends is only as good as the input
you give it. Without knowing the specifics of your application or your hosting
environment, it's hard to give any more specific advice but it sounds to me
like your ISP is making excuses because they don't know any better.

Hi alia,

I have a question. Our marketing people just came
back with web page stats from Webtrends and that
doesn't jive with our ISP's log files. Our ISP told
us that Webtrends is notoriously inaccurate? Is that
true? Does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks,
Kane
