Well, if they are all out of business, maybe they weren't so good in the 
first place.  But, it would seem a pretty good measurement of their 
worth as consultants that their own advice should result in their still 
being in existence.

What kind of Internet consulting do you mean?  There's all kinds, 
depending on your perspective.

There are lots of great companies out there doing really good work for 
their clients.  I think for the most part, it's small, niche companies.  
They are busy doing real work, rather than ramping their companies 
preparatory to getting infusions of venture capital or going public.  As 
well, there are the specialized departments of large, traditional 
marketing and advertising agencies doing this work that have grown and 
hit their stride in providing a full complement of services to their 
clients.

It might be a good time to get together informally to discuss and debate 
some questions like this over a glass of wine or an espresso.
