[va-richmond-general] Red-headed Woodpecker

Despite the overcast, gray day, yesterday afternoon, I took a break from
shopping and went looking for two target birds to photograph, the Hooded
Merganser at Rockwood Park and the Red-headed Woodpecker at Robious Landing. At
Rockwood Park, the Hooded Mergansers, as usual stayed on the opposite shores of
the lake, but to my surprise I found a lot of Red-headed Woodpecker activity on
the path near the lake. There were at least two, and probably more and they
were loud in their calls and their drumming. This was the first time I have
encountered this species at Rockwood Park even though I go there regularly. I
am curious if someone else has been seeing this species at Rockwood.
Other than the usual suspects, I also saw a camera-shy Winter Wren, Brown
Thrasher, Pied-billed Grebes, Hooded Mergansers and a very accommodating Hermit
Thrush.
Needless to say, I did not make it to Robious Landing.
