Just witnessed the most interesting display "outside the kitchen window." There
was is flurry of activity in the Ivy in the backyard. Leaves were flying around
and feathers circling in the air. I expected to see a Sharpie take off with
it's kill. All went silent and there lay 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers....One had
the other pinned to the ground and was pecking the "sap" out of him. They
rolled back and forth like in an Olympic wrestling match. After a couple
minutes they both flew to an Oak tree where they chased each round and round. A
little Brown Creeper zig and zagged at the base of the tree during the
calamity.
A Brown Thrasher has pretty much taken over the suet for today.
