Had a great spur of the moment paddle on Harrison Lake this after. Just us and a lone fisherman. Birds were singing and chirping and flying and rattling all around. The sun and clouds were beautiful. The recent rains made for ease in navigating the far reaches of the tupelo gums. Beavers have been busy collecting their stores for the winter and it looks like just about all the leaves are down. Woodpeckers drummed and called through our entire paddle. Interestingly, the predominant species seemed to be the Hairy Woodpecker.

Here's the scoop:

Great Blue Heron
Turkey Vulture
Black Vulture
Belted Kingfisher
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Downy
Hairy
Pileated
Flicker
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Bufflehead (2)
Wood Duck
Canada Goose
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Brown creeper (many)
White-throats

Yellow-rumps
Winter Wren

... and all the usual woodland residents.
