Had a great paddle in the summer-like weather today at a brand new spot for me
in Dinwiddie County. It was definitely worth working yesterday to be rewarded
with a day like today. There were only two of us on the water and the only
sounds were the crukking of Herons, the kee-yerring of Red-shouldered Hawks and
the sounds of turtles slipping off their logs into the water. The put-in is
cake and there are many easy pull-offs all along the paddle to stretch and have
lunch.. There are no houses; just woodland, swamp and some distant farmland and
a bird or two ...
Highlights:
Red-tail Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Great Blue Heron
Wood Duck

Carolina Wren
