Yes to both. In the past 15 years, we've recorded ravens 4 or 5 times near
our house in Eastern Hanover, although not recently. And that's with a
positive visual ID based on considerable past experience of observing them in
California and other western locales. That head is unmistakeable. On the other
hand, crows can certainly imitate the croak of a raven; we've watched them do
it
many times. So I wouldn't record a raven unless I could see it clearly.
