Hello VA Birders,
I had a moderately birdy day today with 78 species between City of Richmond,
Henrico Co. and Charles City Co.

This evening I had 4 Common Nighthawks over the house between 6:30pm and
7:00 pm.

Also Allen Bryan and myself had a Merlin on Turkey Island Rd. (Henrico Co.)
mid-morning plucking and eating a prey item (cow bird or starling).

Other highlights were first of season Golden-crowned Kinglet, Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, and Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Other standouts (by no means unusual) were 3 Osprey circling and drifting
east over Malvern Hill (Henrico Co.), Cape May Warbler on Carters Mill Rd
(Charles City Co.), Black-throated Blue Warbler at Forest Hill Park (City of
Richmond), Rose-Breasted Grosbeak and Swainson's Thrush (5) at James River
Park (City of Richmond).

For all you "City" birders the main trail between 42nd St. and Reedy Creek
was flooded this afternoon.

Good Birding,

Arun Bose
Richmond, VA
