Hello,
I need some assistance. How is Henricus different from other local parks?
What makes this park unique? How does its habitat differ from other parks?
How does RAS help the park authorities with the park? By providing birdwalks?
How often? How regularly?
I am trying to put together a short piece for Publick Day, Nov. 1st, so there
is some time. Yesterday at Bryan Park the following information was on the
display board. This is a simple example:
"The Richmond Audubon Society promotes the enjoyment, understanding and
preservation of birds, other wildife and habitat through education, advocacy
and fellowship. (Mission statement)
In 1994, RAS joined forces with the Firends of Bryan Park to gather records
of bird life in the park. By educating the public about the valuable habitit
within Bryan Park, many trees were saved from the chainsaw.
The dense understory of holly and dogwood in the park is unique in Bryan
Park. It cannot be found in other parts of Virginia becasue the abundant deer
population has nibbled away at the undergrowth.
The dense understory provides shelter for migrating songbirds, food and water
for breeding birds and winter visitors. Come see for yourself.
The Richmond Audubon Society offers a birdwalk on the first Sunday of each
month beginning one half hour after sunrise at Shelter 1 in Bryan Park."
So, how about Henricus?
