This is a question from my sister-in-law in Harrisonburg.... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Lois
About a week ago, the kids were outside and thought they saw a hawk in our
trees. We looked in a bird book, and they thought it looked like a red-tailed
hawk. (I didn't see it, so don't know for sure). Anyway, Fri night around
9:30 p.m. I heard a terrible squawking outside (sounded like a hawk--in my
limited knowledge). Couldn't see anything from the windows, and I didn't go
out to
look. The next morning when we went outside there was a dead rabbit by our
front steps...looked like hawk damage (top of neck & head). My question is,
will hawks hunt at night??? There was a full moon that was giving a lot of
light that night. I couldn't find my answer in the encyclopedia, so I'm going
to a more knowledgeable source! Hope you can help my curiosity. I saw a hawk
soaring in our neighborhood on Saturday morning, but don't know enough to
identify from the ground.
