Oregon has Black Tailed Deer (subspecies of Mule Deer), not
Whitetails.

> I think I entered Oregon during a birding doldrum. Here is my
short, but lifebird riddled list: Willow Flycatcher, Common
Raven(lifebird! I just looooove their flying brrrooonk! call), Fox
Sparrow(life...actually this couldve been a western morph of the Song
Sparrow, but, although I never heard his song, the call was a metallic
smack! indicative of the Fox), myriad Red-Breasted Nuthatches mixed in
large flocks with Black-Capped Chickadees(life), Red-Tailed and
Red-shouldered Hawks, Turkey Vulture, American Crow, Ring-Necked
Pheasant(life), Stellar's Jay(life), Western Scrub Jay(life), Cedar
Waxwing(life)....and on the Oregon coast...Greater Yellowlegs,
Peregrine Falcon, Red-Necked Phalarope(life), Western Gull(life),
Glaucous Gull(life)....Harbor Seals and the largest concentration of
White-Tailed Deer I have ever seen! The forests out there are
flip-flopped in comparison to ours, having mostly evergreens(and LARGE
ones, I mean) with a smattering of boreals interspersed.

the whole time I was there, and the moon incredibly brightround and
globular...while lying in the grass with my friend at night, we could
hear Coyotes howling and yapping in the hills. I plan on going
back(hopefully permanently) within a half of a year or so. Not to
worry Irene, I have tons of pics. I'll try and post them if I can!
