Subject: Greenways meeting on October 3rd - Plan to attend

GREENWAYS AS GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE
COMMUNITY MEETING
7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3
Central Library (Lori Road), rooms A & B
Featuring Chuck Flink
Founder and President of Greenways Inc.

Greenways are corridors of land recognized for their ability to connect
people and places. They can take many forms and serve many diverse
groups. A scenic byway serving vehicle traffic, a private trail along a
stream or river used by wildlife, and a paved trail used by bicyclists,
skaters, or people with strollers or wheelchairs are all future
components of an integrated greenway system.

Chesterfield County is in the beginning stages of creating a
greenway/linear park plan for the county and is seeking input from
citizens early in the process to determine how to proceed. Chuck Flink,
widely regarded as one of the nation's leading greenway planners, has
helped more than 100 communities within the United States and Canada
plan, design and implement greenway trail systems and facilities. He will
lead a one-hour seminar followed by discussion starting at 7:30 p.m. on
Thursday, October 3.

This greenways seminar is sponsored by Chesterfield County Parks and
Recreation and is made possible by a grant from the Virginia Department
of Forestry's Urban Community Forestry Program. For more information,
call 717-6848.
