[va-richmond-general] woodpecker nest

Folks, I have friends who have a dead tree in their yard with a red-headed
woodpecker nest in it. The tree needs to come down before it falls into their
home. They think there are not chicks in the nest right now, but they're not
sure and the tree company is coming next week to take down the tree. The
company can't wait until fall because the job will be more dangerous then.
Any suggestions for finding out if there are chicks and if so, how to get the
nest out before the tree goes down?
Thanks,
Mary Davis
