26 must be the number-we netted 26 birds yesterday at DGAP and 26 at Powhatan today. The weather today was perfect with low humidity and blue skies. Black-eyed Susan's carpeted the trails and Dragonflies guided us on our net runs. As it went yesterday most of our birds were recaps-which makes for interesting data to track, compare and interpret. Nothing to do at sunrise...? Come on out and see us before the season wraps up.
The 26 looked like this:
Downy Woodpecker
Eastern Tufted Titmouse
Acadian Flycatcher
Indigo Bunting 4 (2 recaps)
Summer Tanager-female
Louisianna Waterthrush
Prairie warbler (recap)
White-eyed Vireo 5 (3 recaps)
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Hooded Warbler 6 ( 3 recaps)
Northern Cardinal (recap juvenile)
Ovenbird
Carolina Wren (recap)
Thanks to all the MAPS volunteers who turned out this weekend.
