I have a water garden in 1/2 of a wine barrel with a liner in it. A small pump
keeps the water moving somewhat, and I think the sound of the water attracts
more birds than if it was still. Next to it I have a large plastic dish full
of gravel and rocks which is filed with water. More birds use the still bath
than the water garden, but the smaller birds seem to like being able to sneak
into the water garden where they are hidden from predators by the vegetation.
At my old house I had an artificial stream with small pools at the top and
bottom of the stream (it recirculated with a pump), That attracted a lot of
birds with the sound and movement. Even rabbits and other mammals, and
dragonflies liked it.
Good Luck
Bob Siegfried

I have a question about a bird bath. Will birds still come to a bird bath if
it has moving water?
