- From: "Al Warfield" <warfield101@xxxxxxxxxxx>
- To: "audubon listserve" <va-richmond-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Date: Wed, 2 May 2007 15:04:19 -0400
I got the following e-mail from Cyrus Brame. He is inviting up to 5 additional
RAS members to partake in Volunteer Appreciation Day at Presquile on May 12.
Cyrus says he would rather that the folks who take advantage of this offer are
those who have volunteered for at least one workday at Presquile. His e-mail is
below, and below that is the invitation with info on attending. Contact Cyrus
by May 8th at the number or e-mail address noted below if you want to take
advantage of this offer.
Al Warfield
Al,
Aimee Weldon, from Audubon National's IBA Program, requested I open some
additional slots to Richmond Audubon members for the May 12th Volunteer
Appreciation Event at Presquile. Although I originally limited the
invitations to folks that have volunteered at Presquile and James River
NWRs over the past two years, I am willing to allow up to five more Audubon
members to register for the event. It is preferred that these Audubon
members have volunteered or helped with the refuges in some capacity in the
past.
Please forward as appropriate. Interested parties should contact me by May
8th.
Thank you,
Cyrus Brame, ORP

US Fish and Wildlife Service Volunteer Appreciation Event
May 12th, 2007
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Dear Volunteers,
To show our gratitude for your past work at Presquile and/or James River
National Wildlife Refuges, you are cordially invited to a Volunteer
Appreciation Event on Saturday, May 12th. The celebration will be begin
promptly at 1PM with pontoon boat shuttles to Presquile NWR. Once on the
island, a casual barbeque lunch will be served. Attendees will be encouraged
to leisurely hike the trails, observe wildlife, inspect past projects, even
plant a tree or two (should anyone be so inclined). This is an afternoon to
celebrate hard work and camaraderie in an unstructured, relaxed environment.
The James River Association, Audubon Society, Virginia Department of
Conservation and Recreation's James Watershed Office/Chesapeake Bay Program,
and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay are helping sponsor this very special event.
Please reserve your spot, prior to May 5th, by contacting Cyrus Brame
(cyrus_brame@xxxxxxx or 804-829-9020). Attendees will meet at the Turkey
Island Ferry Landing, located on the river near the end of Bermuda Hundred Road
in Chester. Bring a blanket, binoculars, camera, bug spray, whatever you need
for three hours of nature-related recreation. I look forward to hearing from
you.
Due to our long list of volunteers, not to mention access limitations to the
island, only persons that have participated in US Fish and Wildlife Service
volunteer projects in 2006-2007 are being invited.
Sincerely,
Cyrus Brame, ORP
