Just like to say that fall banding at Dutch Gap is always a team effort, as
it was that day. Larry Robinson extracted that bird from the net in an area
where we had been catching indigo buntings, and he immediately identified it
as a painted bunting. I first saw it for examination and then aged it when
he brought it back to the station amid much excitement by the other station
volunteers. A Richmond Audubon field trip group had the incredible good
fortune to arrive at the station at about the same time and were all able to
see it. A very happy memory.
