I had the pleasure of leading two field trips this weekend - Saturday was
Point-of-Rocks Park, and Sunday was Powhite Park.
Highlights at Point-of-Rocks include a pair of Osprey, one with fish in
talons, circling right over head and giving us a nice view of the catch; and a
Grey-cheeked Thrush who was kind enough to pose for us and serenade us a bit,
too. Indigo Buntings now have a new motto: "This bunting's for you!"

Highlights at Powhite (after all the singing and we finally got to see the
birds) include tanagers, dueling Red-bellied Woodpeckers, a very visible pair
of Great Crested Flycatchers just fresh from their nest cavity in a dead tree
snag, and singing in the morning sunshine, a noise and raucous Titmouse family
feeding, Close Encounters of the Hummer Kind, and a lovely Green Heron (which
we have unanimously decided should be renamed "Plum-breasted Heron").

  Here's our list for Point-of-Rocks:
