Hi all,
Please add another resource to your list of cat organizations that have a
humane trap.  Southern Dixie Cat Club.  We put on 2 cat shows a year & have
a trap that we can lend out.  Several of our members belong to animal
organizations that will come out to commercial sites (like restaurants) with
many traps, spend several hours & take all the animals away to be health
checked & sterilized.  Of course this is quite a "process" and has to be
co-ordinated well in advance.  Richmond Times-Dispatch has special animal
adoption issues at least twice a year with a list of many of the adoption
groups. Your local Vet may know of organizations that could help.
Spring is breeding season.  If they are running free, they will be pregnant
by now...we are already dealing with next year's problems.  The best time to

Sorry, Doug. I was kidding about the shotguns (I said so in my post). I
wouldn't even want to shoot a squirrel (though I don't mind the neighborhood
hawk having a little gray snack now and then). I love cats, also. I would
have responded to the person personally, but when I hit reply it sent it to
the listserv. I love responsible pet owners. My apologies if my post was
misinterpreted.

  that you are pretty much preaching to the choir in this venue.  I happen

  love cats (have 5!) and try to be a responsible "owner."  I also love
  birding and Richmond Audubon and think that the focus of this listserve
  should continue to be on birds, birding and the major conservation issues
  that affect a supportive habitat.  Shotguns and stray cats might be a
better
  conversation to be held offline in order to avoid possibly offending the
  responsible pet owners privy to this delightful forum.
