Lewis,

I will play along too. Without considering the migrants that pass
through and the species that are common here for "most" of the year (like
Brown Thrasher), you might still want to add the following to the list:

Carolina Wren
White-breasted Nuthatch
E. Towhee
Song Sparrow
Canada Goose
Turkey Vulture
Black Vulture
D-C Cormorant (James River)
Bald Eagle (J. River)
Killdeer
Red-tailed Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Flicker
A. Crow
E. Bluebird
C. Waxwing
C. Grackle
A. Goldfinch

Like you said, it all depends on how loose the rules are.

                       Larry

My initial guess was about 10. But I think I might have been a bit low.
Here's my list, in no particular order:

In retrospect, I think you may need 15 or 20 to do the job, but I have
no data to back this up. I limited myself to thinking about birds that
are here year-round or that nest here, but you could play the game with
looser rules.
