[va-richmond-general] Henricus on Sunday morning - Least Bittern

Hi all,
The Least Bittern(s) were active at Henricus this morning. I saw one
adjacent to the first observation platform around 9:45am. It flew
approximately 45 feet into the vegetation front/left of the platform and
then quickly disappeared again. Later, while waiting to take a photo, I
heard another Least Bittern back to the right of the platform.
Unfortunately, neither made a photo appearance while I was there.
Other birds of special interest included:
Warbling Vireos
Green Herons
Red-headed Woodpecker
Blue Grosbeaks
Orchard Orioles
Wood Ducks with ducklings
C. Geese with goslings
and 4 Osprey in the air at one time. The new nest is coming along nicely
too.
