[va-richmond-general] call for help

The peregrine falcon pair in Richmond has gone into hiding, which means they
have probably found a nest and may even have eggs. They have forsaken the
three wonderful nest boxes that Shawn Padgett made available to them and most
likely have found another place out of view from my office. I have not seen a
falcon since Tuesday (4/2) and that was a brief flyby as it hunted. The last
time I saw the pair was last Wednesday (3/27), sitting on one of the building
signs. At any rate, Shawn is ready to call on the public to inform him of any
sightings; however, before he can get the word out via the media, it would be
very helpful if Audubon members could be on the lookout. Maybe some of you
could take a morning to come downtown and look around. Shawn is worried that
they may be nesting under one of the bridges which could be dangerous for the
chicks if they were to fall out of the nest into the water. They could be even
a few miles outside of downtown. So keep an eye out for peregrine falcons and
let us know if and where you see one or both. E-mailing the listserv will be
sufficient.
Thanks for your help!
Mary Davis
