A House Finch has built a nest in a wreath at our house in Chesterfield County.
Today there was one egg. In Roger Clapp's book the earliest piedmont date is
3/31. (this part of Chesterfield Co. is in the Piedmont at 37.2925N, 77.3504W).
Roger has asked for reports of nesting, so here is one. The earliest coastal
and mountain dates are 3/16, so this is no big news. Still, I love the
progession from winter into spring.
