[va-richmond-general] Owl nest question

I had an hour to kill today and drove to the owl nests at Byrd and Bryan
Parks. Ever since Jayne Munoz found the owl nest destroyed in her Tidewater
yard after the high winds recently I had been wondering how these two were
doing. At Byrd, there was tree litter on the ground and a couple of
headless bird carcasses (junco and some kind of blackbird from the looks of
them) but the nest is intact and an adult was on it. I guess the carcasses
may have been extra food that was dislodged by the wind. At Bryan, the nest
appeared intact, but no sign of an owl. I don't think it was ever deep
enough to conceal an adult, and it seems early and chilly to leave the young
alone. One old, disintegrating pellet (and some blooming violets :-)) on
the ground below. No sign of an owl in any trees nearby. Has anyone else
seen anything there since the high winds?
