[va-richmond-general] Owl banding, Lord Fairfax Community College, 2/29/08

I took two of my kids (and Flat Stanley) to the public owl banding event
tonight. We had a great time even though the weather caused them to close
down early. Turns out they have all met Flat Stanley, so it was no problem
to get pictures with a beautiful screech owl for my son's first grade class.
It was not a particularly difficult drive even with two children and iffy
weather. The people there are very nice, and when they are able to open to
the public it is well worth remembering that they are able to net screech,
northern saw whet, long-eared and barred owls. Definitely a trip I would
make again. Keep an eye out for future postings about banding there or near
there. If time permits on a trip out that way you can add on places like
Sky Meadows. Goodnight all.
