[va-richmond-general] Adult Eagle Pair

I am continuing to see a pair of adult Bald Eagles hanging out in a
swampy dead snag area near the corner of Laburnum and Darbytown Road in
eastern Henrico County.
Along Laburnum, just north of Darbytown, on the west side of the road,
there is a cutover field. Some tall trees have been left along the
road, which block the view somewhat. Beyond the pasture is a large area
of tall dead snag trees with a small creek running through. I see the
Eagles perched or flying low anywhere along these trees. It used to be
a Great Blue Heron rookery, but the storms over the last 2 or 3 years
have taken down their nests, and I don't see much evidence of them
anymore, at least from the road.
The adult Eagles are unmistakable with their bright heads and tails
flashing in the sun. Occasionally, I have seen one flush waterfowl off
of the water retention pond on the southeast corner of the
Laburnum/Darbytown intersection.
Since some adult Eagles in Virginia are feeding eaglets right now, it
might bear some investigation for a nest. I have seen two adults on and
off for about 6 months, and they continue to be there today.
Since their nests are protected, and usually documented, somebody
(who?) should see if they have set up shop, so they can be properly
protected.
