The birds on the nest are ospreys. I saw one flying Monday and one on the nest
Tuesday morning when I came into work.
The falcon laid her first egg on March 14 last year. I keep a record of their
activity. I've been checking the McGuire-Woods website, but it's not ready
yet. They'd better get it going soon!

Jane Tarter and I observed a Raven in the 1400 block of East Commerce
Road in south Richmond at 5:30 in the afternoon of Wednesday, 9 March
2005. It flew off to the east into an area we could not reach, and we
did not see it again.
Each morning for the last week I have seen a large bird on the nest in
the James River east of the Ninth Street bridge, where Ospreys have
nested for the past several years, but the nest is between the bridge
and the sun, and I haven't identified the bird.
Nearly every morning for the last two weeks I have seen one or two
falcons at or near the BB&T nest site that produced chicks each of the
last two years. If I recall aright, the female laid eggs during the
first week of March last year.
