A new nest box has been installed on a balcony on the BB&T building for the
falon pair downtown. They were seen on the rail and hopping down into the
balcony. Shawn Padgett of William and Mary's Center for Conservation Biology
put a flat box of gravel up there Wednesday and I witnessed the birds
inspecting it shortly afterwards. This morning they were both on the balcony
and one was digging around in the box. Keep your fingers crossed for a
successful hatch! If you want to view the birds, the building is on the
southwest corner of 9th and Main St. The balcony is at the base of the second
window down from the top on the right most side. The top two sets of windows
are painted brown around them, so look at the bottom of the brown section all
the way to the right. You might be able to see the box through the rails of
the balcony.
