[va-richmond-general] MERLIN in Powhatan County

It was so cold here today that I didn't feel inclined to go out. Finally
around 3 PM, my husband and I decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood.
I stopped by an overgrown field to look for sparrows, and John noticed a bird
perched at the top of one of the trees at the edge of the field. As we edged
closer, we saw it was a female MERLIN! She took off and flew around giving us
great views of both her upper and undersides before flying off to perch in
another tree further away.
No wonder I didn't see any sparrows in the field!
